Dear Residents,
As the Fall semester quickly draws to a close, I want to inform everybody of the end of semester check out policies. Please know adherence to these policies is important and each failure or non-compliance with policies will result in a $35 dollar Improper Check-Out Fee.
RA Hall Meetings:
Each RA will be scheduling a meeting with his/her residents to discuss the Fall check out process. These meetings are mandatory and it is essential that you attend these meetings.
Departure Date:
You are required to have checked out of the Residence Halls, 24 hours after your last exam. Everyone is expected to vacate the halls by December 16th at 5:00pm, regardless if you have a Friday exam. Exceptions will be made for those who have Saturday exams, and those individuals will be contacted with separate instructions via their school email. Your Student ID will fail to work after December 16th at 5:00pm unless you have explicit permission to extend your stay. This permission will only be granted to those who are officially registered in a class that has a Saturday exam.
Return Date:
Out of State/Area Students: January 9th, 2012 10:00am – 6:00pm (This is for those who are over 100 miles from campus)
Local Area Return: January 10th, 2012 10:00am – 6:00pm
Students who arrive prior to January 9th will not be accommodated and will be asked to find accommodations off property. There will be absolutely no exceptions.
Students who arrive after 6:00pm will be given temporary accommodations until they can complete to official check in process.
Students Returning to Current Housing in Spring 2012:
Students who plan to return to housing are required to complete a break check out.
This requires students to perform the following:
1) Defrost Refrigerator
2) Clean Debris from Furniture/Floor
3) Lower all Blinds
4) Leave Room in Good Condition
5) Lock Door
6) Return their room key (SJ/JB Only)
This can be done as either an express check-out or a full check out.
Express Check Out – Each student will be provided with an envelope. Providing they have completed the above steps, they may enclose their room key and sign the envelope confirming they have completed the necessary steps to move out of their room. They will not have to schedule an appointment with their RA but will not be able to appeal improper check-out charges.
Full Check Out – Students who wish to check out with an RA may schedule to check out with their RA. The RA will take your key, and sign off that you have completed the necessary steps to check out of your room.
Students Not Planning to Return to Housing in Spring 2012 :
If you are not planning on returning, you may still complete the Express Check Out or Full Check Out as stated above. You must provide a forwarding address and remove all of your belongings from your room. If you do a full check out, your RA will go through your RA with you to close your room.
Thank you in advance for your compliance with the above instructions. Please direct any questions to me, Residence Life staff or your RA.
